The Editor Discovers: Seriatim, Inc. — Moving Consultants Extraordinaire

This Young New York Based Company Provides "Total Organizing Solutions"
for Some of Today’s Most Hectic Transitions

"Organize what you have. Find what you need. Put it all in order. One step at a time," is the slogan of Seriatim, Inc., a company founded in 1999 to meet the needs of busy homeowners and professionals faced with the often daunting tasks of paper management, clutter control, renovation, and relocation. Primarily, their sphere of business is the New York tri-state area.

Seriatim, a Latin word that means "in order; in a series" is the brain-child of Sonya Weisshappel, a professional organizer, who has seen her company grow from five employees to sixteen in the past year.

This is not surprising, when you consider how this energetic staff steps right in, serves as a voice for its clients, and helps them navigate either a renovation of an existing property or a move from one home or office to another in a relatively stress-free process.

The clients’ needs are determined in an initial consultation, and a contract is signed before the work begins. Flexible and accommodating, the staff offers a myriad of services. They can create a detailed timeline for the project; devise organizational systems; help determine what should be moved, stored, and/or given away; recommend and handle short or long term storage; inventory all moved or stored items; recommend and handle movers; hire and schedule; process address changes for all mail; supervise movers and/or designers on-site; unpack and arrange the apartment, home or office on move-in day. A cleaning service is expected to be added soon.

"Fees vary from $65 to $75 per hour with a price range of $1,500 (for a move from one small apartment to another) to $8,000 for a larger, more detailed job."
